CES, LAS VEGAS, NV, January 6, 2008 -- Top Global,
the global leader in mobile wireless convergence systems, announced
today that the MobileBridge™ product family supports latest cellular
communication technology ? HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access
(HSUPA) and VoIP over 3G (VoIPo3G). The MobileBridge™ is a patented
gateway/router that links 3G and 4G wireless networks with WLAN and
LAN, enabling enterprises to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of
broadband wireless Internet in truly mobile and remote environments.
HSUPA
enables high-speed uplink data communications such as voice over
internet protocol (VoIP) and interactive multimedia with improved data
speed and shorter latency. Although we first demonstrated VoIPo3G
feasibility back in 2003, analysts and 3G carriers have only begun to
explore the vast potential of this application recently. Disruptive
Analysis forecasts 255 million active VoIPo3G users by the end of 2012.
With increasing worldwide penetration of HSUPA and EVDO Rev.A, uplink
bandwidth has improved significantly which makes VoIPo3G an attractive
application for end users and carriers. Many of our enterprise
customers are using the 3G MobileBridge (MB8000) with IP phones which
route voice traffic from their remote offices over 3G cellular network
to their corporate IP-PBX. Partnering with our customers, we have
developed technologies to overcome two major issues. The first one is
quality of service. We have implemented our proprietary native QoS in
our Enterprise product line: MB8000, MB9000 and MB6800M (more product
info can be found: www.topglobalusa.com)
to support VoIPo3G. For example the MB8000 will intelligently route
voice traffic with higher priority than other data transfers like file
download, etc. Therefore, one can still carry on a clear conversation
and download a large file at the same time. The second issue is
NAT/Firewall traversal. We have implement VoIP friendly NAT in MB8000.
On the other hand, our MB9000 and MB6800M support SIP and H.323
application layer gateway (ALG) to deliver VoIPo3G. The ALG enables
secure transport of VoIP traffic through the firewall and NAT so
packets don't bounce off the firewall.
As
the market demand for uplink speed grows, there are clear advantages to
support seamless migration from HSDPA to HSUPA in our MobileBridge™
product family. Using the MobileBridge™ with AC881 and AT&T HSUPA
network, average uplink throughput of 500-800 kbps and downlink
throughput of 600-1400 kbps can be achieved. With HSUPA and EVDO Rev.A
technologies, our MobileBridge can better support innovative mobile
applications and advanced features including:
-Broadband
Wireless Internet Access. Similar to EVDO Rev.A, the HSDPA technology
delivers higher data rate than DSL, and cable. It offers additional
freedom and flexibility for customers to get anywhere anytime internet
access.
-New Applications. High speed uplink makes HSUPA (and EVDO
Rev.A) an ideal technology for applications such as VoIP, video
surveillance, and interactive multimedia communication.
-Mobility. Optimized handover schemes with short latencies
ensure real-time applications such as VoIP performance without service
dropout or degradation in moving environments.
